PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manage the used state of the optional function of each electronic device by setting the electronic device having basic and optional functions to the state of using the optional function without applying any burdens on a design section or the like. SOLUTION: A display section 3 for displaying the screen of selecting functions, operation sections 4 to 6 for selecting functions from the display screen, a control section, and a control panel 2 having an external I/F are connected to an electronic device main body 1 having basic and optional functions. The control section causes the display section 3 to display a screen for selecting only the basic function in an initial setting state, and to display a screen for selecting the optional function in addition to the basic function under conditions where its serial number matches the serial number of the electronic device main body 1 when data for designating the serial number of the electronic device main body 1 to permit use of the optional function is obtained through an external I/F.
