METHOD OF MALEATING CRUSHED VULCANIZED RUBBER AND RESIN COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE MALEATED RUBBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of maleating a crushed vulcanized rubber obtained by simple mechanical crushing of a vulcanized rubber, e.g. waste tire rubber, directly with maleic anhydride without use of a peroxide. SOLUTION: A maleated product of a crushed vulcanized rubber is manufactured by mixing a crushed vulcanized rubber with maleic anhydride at 180-230°C in a heating mixer without use of a peroxide. Application of the maleated regenerated rubber to hardened products of epoxy and urethane resins improves the strength at break of the products, compared with current products.
