The converter has a driving pump wheel, a driven turbine wheel and a guide wheel (1) which includes guide wheel blades (7, 8). The guide wheel blades are attached to the guide wheel such that the blades can move between a through-flow position and a guide position. The guide wheel is stationary relative to the pump wheel and the turbine wheel. The guide wheel has an inner ring (2) from which a flange (4) stretches radially outwards. The guide wheel blades are swivelably supported on the radially outer area of flange.
