An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device is provided to reduce a side chain length of an orientation film for promoting the uniformity of pre-tilt angles for each panel, thereby removing stains caused by the ununiform pre-tilt angles and improving screen quality of the LCD. A liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates facing each other and joined with each other. A liquid crystal layer is formed between the substrates. An orientation film is formed on an inner surface of the first or second substrate with short alkyl side chains(161) such as -CnH2n+1, wherein n represents a natural number in the range from 1 to 7. Tilt angles between a main chain(160) and the side chains(161) are reduced, reducing pre-tilt angles of the orientation film. Therefore, interaction between the orientation film and liquid crystal molecules(103a) is weakened, making the pre-tilt angles of the orientation film uniform. |
