PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insert for metallic mold which can avoid an interference with a cooling water path in the other system, when the cooling water paths are connected in series at the inner part of the mold, and has the sufficient cooling capacity by forming many cooling water paths and is excellent in working efficiency when attaching/detaching the insert. SOLUTION: The insert 1 for metallic mold is provided with a main body 2 forming reciprocative cooling water paths 31, 32, 33, 34 extended in a projecting direction, almost columnar shaped or almost conical shaped branch current hole 15 and side holes 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 for connecting outward paths and return paths in these reciprocative cooling water courses, and the branch current hole 15 in the inner part, so that they communicate with one another; and a branch current member 3 having the shape in which expanded diameter parts 3a, 3c, 3e closely abutted on the cooling water on the inner peripheral surface of the branch current hole 15 in a water tight manner and shrank diameter parts 3b, 3d, 3f having smaller diameters than those of the expanded diameter parts, are alternately laminated in the projecting direction.
