A prism sheet and a backlight unit including the same are provided to improve a viewing angle of a liquid crystal panel without using a protecting sheet but using a prism sheet only, thereby reducing a thickness of the backlight unit. A backlight unit has an optical sheet unit including a diffusion sheet(400), and a prism sheet(402). The prism sheet includes a prism supporting part(412) mounted with a plurality of prism shape parts(414) at a top surface thereof, wherein the prism shape parts are disposed in a line on the entire top surface of the prism surface part. A plurality of side prism parts(416) are formed at each side surface of the prism shape parts, wherein both of the prism shape parts and the side prism parts are in the shape of triangle. The prism shape parts and the side prism parts collect and diffuse light, and the light is advanced to an LCD panel, improving a viewing angle of the LCD panel. |
