A compound represented by the formula (I) or a salt thereof: (I) wherein R<SUP>1</SUP> independently represents a halogen atom, a hydroxy, a nitro, an alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl which may be halogenated, an alkoxy which may have a substituent, an acyl or an amino which may have a substituent; R<SUP>2</SUP> represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent; R<SUP>3</SUP> represents an electron-attracting group; n is an integer of 0 to 2; and m is an integer of 1 to 6. The compound has a capability of binding to a macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), and is therefore useful as a prophylactic/therapeutic agent for a disease induced by oxidative stress or the like.
