708,307. Window-operating gear. HUPP CORPORATION. Oct. 9, 1951 [Oct. 11, 1950], No. 23460/51. Drawings to Specification. Class 20 (3). [Also in Group XIV] In a vehicle window regulator driven by a reversible electric motor and wherein the transmission includes a worm and worm wheel driving a pinion meshing with a gear sector connected to the operating linkage, the helix angle of the worm is approximately equal to the friction angle between the materials of the worm and wheel and the teeth on the pinion and gear sector are of the long-and-short addenda type. Reversible operation of the mechanism is thus prevented, i.e. the window cannot be actuated except by operation of the power means. The casing in which the gearing is housed is so formed as to hold the worm gear against radial and axial movement or may carry members for this purpose.
|
