PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a liquid crystal display device using an active matrix substrate. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a first gate driver 400 on one side of a display section 600 and a second gate driver 500 on the other side. First scanning signals GL1, GL3, ..., GLm-1 output from the first gate driver 400 select odd-numbered gate bus lines and place the second gate driver 500 in operation. Second scanning signals GL2, GL4, ..., GLm output from the second gate driver 500 select even-numbered gate bus lines and place the first gate driver 400 in operation. A buffer circuits 43 and a buffer circuit 53 in the second gate driver 500 are arranged zigzag on the left and right sides of the display section 600 and inverter circuits in the respective buffer circuits are connected in series in the direction where source bus lines extend.
