<p>Plastic bags are sealed by a weld formed between heated (3) press bars (1, 2). One of the bars has a cutter (5) with a blade that moves at right angles to the bars (1, 2) to form a slit outside the sealed region. This provides a start for a tear so that the bag can be opened easily. The blade can be moved by a magnet and retracted into a shield. One of the blades (2) can be swung out of the way for ease of handling. The film bag is drawn off a supply roll (10) and cut off by a knife moving along the blade. A table (12) is provided for the take-off of the sealed bag.</p> |
