<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line head which enables the easy creation of a pattern for detecting the inclination of the line head, and an image forming apparatus using it. <P>SOLUTION: A light source (light emitting part) 63 for forming an image, which is constituted as a dot light source, is formed on a glass substrate 62, and a plurality of light emitting parts 63 are arranged in a main scanning direction, so that a light-emitting-element line can be formed. The light emitting part 63 is driven by a TFT driving circuit 72. A plurality of light emitting elements 74 and 75 for forming the pattern for detecting the inclination of the line head are provided at both the main-scanning-direction ends of the glass substrate 62.
