PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for blowing a synthetic resin material into a blast furnace, which can prevent air permeability from degrading in the blast furnace even when a quantity of the synthetic resin material to be blown into the blast furnace has increased, by keeping the combustibility of the synthetic resin material without controlling a position of a lance for blowing the synthetic resin material. SOLUTION: The method for operating the blast furnace by blowing the synthetic resin material into the blast furnace through a tuyere of the blast furnace comprises the steps of: estimating a pressure loss in the furnace from the quantity of the blown synthetic resin material and the number of blowing tuyeres; and controlling the number of tuyeres for blowing the synthetic resin material so that the estimated pressure loss can be a standard value or lower. It is preferable to estimate the pressure loss in the furnace by using a powder quantity estimated from the material balance of a powder existing in a lower part of the blast furnace.
