PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable drum supporting device capable of preventing high-speed rotation of a cable drum and restricting run out of the cable from the cable drum. SOLUTION: This cable drum supporting device 1 is provided with a support 2 having a support part 10 rotatably supporting the cable drum 16, a rotary encoder 21 for detecting rotating speed of the cable drum 16, a brake mechanism 29 for giving braking force to rotation of the cable drum 16, and a control panel 42 for operating the brake mechanism 29 when rotating speed detected by the rotary encoder 21 exceeds the set speed. With this structure, when the rotating speed of the cable drum 16 exceeds the set speed, the brake mechanism 29 is operated to give braking force to rotation of the cable drum 16, and high-speed rotation of the cable drum 16 can be thereby prevented.
