PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance heat exchanger apparatus that is inexpensive to manufacture, while reducing pressure losses. SOLUTION: The heat exchanger apparatus comprises outer pipes 11a, 12a; inner pipes 11b, 12b situated within the outer pipes; grooved double pipes 11, 12 comprising the outer and inner pipes held in close contact with each other; a twisted pipe 13 comprising a plurality of the grooved double pipes spirally twisted and entwined in close contact with one another; and a heat transfer pipe 10 enclosing the twisted pipe. The heat transfer pipe is shaped to be spiral to match the spiral shape of the twisted pipe. The spiral pitch of the spiral shape of the heat transfer pipe 10 is approximately the same as the spiral pitch of the twisted pipe. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
