Secondary air is introduced in the flow path of the exhaust gas arrangement upstream of the turbine of the turbocharger. A measuring device determining the conveyed amount of secondary air is a device for determining the revolutions of the turbocharger. An independent claim is also included for a process for monitoring secondary air input into the exhaust gas arrangement of the engine.
