<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device preventing uneven backlight illumination when a reflective sheet leaves a photoconductive board by pressing an edge of the reflective sheet against the photoconductive board. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device performs display operation while irradiating a liquid crystal panel 1 with the light from a backlight device. The backlight device has the photoconductive board 6 having a surface opposed to the liquid crystal panel 1, the reflective sheet 7 arranged on the reverse surface side of the photoconductive board 6, a light source 8 which is supported by a holder 10 and inroduces light from a flank of the photoconductive board 6, the photoconductive board 6, and a back cover 4 which accommodates the reflective sheet 7 and holder 10. The holder 10 has an end portion 10a extending to between the reflective sheet 7 and back cover 4.
