PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trunk radio relay system and method thereof by which a control channel for controlling radio communication is made into superframe structure and the number of superframes is dynamically associated with an amount of data traffic to perform data communication. SOLUTION: In the trunk radio relay system in which the respective channel groups 1-20 having trunk controllers 101-120, radio relays 201-220 and antennas 401-420 are connected by a control bus 100 to share a variety of information and perform voice communication and the data communication with subscriber units 301-319 in radio sites of the respective channel groups 1-20, frame structure of the control channel for controlling the voice communication and the data communication forms the superframe structure and general-purpose frames which are components of the superframes are assigned as common control channels or user packet channels.
