PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut down the number of component items and to reduce a cost as to a modular jack. SOLUTION: This modular jack is equipped with an incorrect insertion preventing means 2 to prevent a modular plug having the number of poles other than the prescribed number of poles from being inserted. In this modular jack 1, the incorrect insertion preventing means 2 is composed of an elastic support piece 4 formed by providing an incorrect insertion determining member 3 at the tip part of an elastic body which bends toward the upper side of the jack with its rear end part supported by the rear of modular jack body, the incorrect insertion determining member 3 which is provided at the tip part of the elastic support piece and disposed on one side in the horizontal direction of the opening part of the jack body, and which laterally moves a heteropolar modular jack inserted in the opening part of the modular jack body to prevent its invasion, and a stopper weir 1g which is provided on the other side opposite to the incorrect insertion determining member in the horizontal direction of the opening of the jack body, and provided on a part of the ceiling of the modular jack so as to prevent its further invasion.
