<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-gloss water-based emulsion for an inkjet recording sheet, which is excellent in ink absorbency, water resistance and printing density, and an inkjet recording sheet containing the water-based emulsion. <P>SOLUTION: The water-based emulsion for the inkjet recording sheet comprises a copolymer which is composed of at least one kind monomer (A) selected from among dimethylaminoethylacrylamide, dimethylaminopropylacrylamide and methyl chloride salts of them, and the other copolymerizable monomer (B) including at least aromatic vinyls.
