<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for restraining the deterioration in the service life of a sensor arranged on the downstream side of the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: This catalyst is interposed in the middle of an exhaust system for deriving exhaust gas of an engine to the atmosphere from an engine exhaust port.
