PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bactericide for agricultural and horticultural use, having high and stable plant disease control effects. SOLUTION: The bactericide for the agricultural and the horticultural use contains the biphenyl derivative represented by formula (I) [wherein, X and Y1are each independently a halogen atom, an alkyl group or the line; Y2is a haloalkyl group or a bromine atom; Z is a halogen atom, a formyl group or an alkyl group which may be substituted with a halogen; A is a carbonyl group, a thiocarbonyl group or a single bond; R1and R2are each independently a hydrogen atom, a (substituted) alkyl group, a (substituted) alkenyl group, a (substituted) alkynyl group, a (substituted) alkoxy group, a (substituted) aryl group, a (substituted) alkylcarbonyl group, an alkenylcarbonyl group, a formyl group or the like; and n is an integer of 0-4] or salt thereof as an active ingredient.
