PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer exhibiting excellent productivity. SOLUTION: The ink jet printer comprises a sheet retaining member 1 arranged on the downstream side of a position where ink is ejected from an ink jet head in the carrying passage of a printing matter, and a counter roller arranged oppositely to the sheet retaining member 1. The sheet retaining member 1 includes a supporting substrate 2, a plurality of columnar starwheels 4, and a coil spring 5 arranged to penetrate the starwheels 4 in the axial direction of the columnar starwheel 4. The coil spring 5 is formed to pass the plurality of starwheels 4 and to be secured to the supporting substrate 2 by a spring securing member 6 between the starwheels 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
