PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for local expansion forming of a pipe, by which a expanded part is locally formed in the pipe without generating faults such as buckling, wall thickness reduction, and cracking with a simple method and device, and to provide a pipe having a expanded part with a large extension amount, which does not cause buckling, wall thickness reduction, and cracking. SOLUTION: The method is for local expansion forming of the pipe, in which expansion of the pipe 1 is locally performed to form a expanded part 2. The expanded part 2 is locally formed in the pipe 1 by applying a load, which proceeds in a radius direction from an inner peripheral surface 3 of the pipe to the outer peripheral surface 4 of the pipe, to at least a part of the expanded part 2, without applying the load in the radius direction to the whole of the pipe while applying a compression load to the pipe in its axial direction.
