PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transfer unit and an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image transfer unit 140 includes a photosensitive medium 114 on which an electrostatic latent image is formed by optical scanning and a toner image is formed by toner supplied to the electrostatic latent image, a transfer belt 141 which circulates around at least a pair of rollers 143, 145 to form a transfer nip with the photosensitive medium 114 and a transfer roller which is arranged opposite to the photosensitive medium 114 with respect to the transfer belt and contacts the transfer belt. The transfer roller 150 is located further upstream of a direction in which the transfer belt proceeds than the photosensitive medium and the electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes the same.
