PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distortion correcting method capable of correcting error caused by camera shake or the like. SOLUTION: This distortion correction method comprises steps of: removing a part for noise of frequency spectrum obtained by applying Fourie transformation to a photographic image showing a luminance value obtained by photographing a lattice pattern through a lens, except a primary harmonic wave; shifting the primary harmonic wave to an original position side only by the frequency spectrum of the lattice pattern without aberration; applying Fourier inverse transformation to calculate a phase value for phase connection; calculating the deformation amounts of the lattice pattern based on the phase-connected phase value, substituting the deformation amounts in the deformation amount calculation formula established by adding abberation model amounts to be generated in the lattice pattern in a deviation value calculation formula expressed by the formula of a plane under the consideration of the rotary movement and parallel movement of the lattice pattern: determining coefficients expressing at least an abberation model amounts in the deformation amount calculation formula by using a least square method; and correcting the distortion by using the determined coefficients of the abberation model amounts.
