<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing faulty charging caused by reversely charged toner in a cleaner-less system. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 equipped with the cleaner-less system is provided with: an agitating member 200 abutting on an image carrier 201 on a more downstream side in a rotating direction than the transfer position of the image carrier 201 and on a more upstream side than the charging position thereof, and rotating in a counter direction to the image carrier 201 to agitate toner left after transfer on the surface of the image carrier 201; and applying means 200a and 200b applying voltage to the agitating member 200. As to the applied voltage to the agitating member 200, the DC component thereof is different from the surface potential of the image carrier 201 on the more downstream side in the rotating direction than the transfer position by ≥50 V on the same pole side as the normal charging polarity of toner, and the amplitude thereof is larger than double of a potential difference between the DC component and the surface potential of the image carrier 201 on the more downstream side in the rotating direction than the transfer position. The frequency thereof is ≤700 Hz, and the voltage value thereof is set so that the duty of a phase which is on the same pole side as the normal charging polarity of the toner relative to the DC component is <50%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
