PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire for heavy load capable of simultaneously attaining wear resistance, durability and rib-tear resistance. SOLUTION: Four circumferential grooves 20 are formed on a tread surface 11 and abrasion sacrifice ribs 25 are arranged in an outer groove 22. In this pneumatic tire, the following relations are satisfied: the relation among a width Wc of a center rib, a width W<SB>2</SB>of a second rib 32, a width Wsh of a shoulder rib 33 of 0.7≤(Wc/Wsh)≤0.8 and 0.65≤(W<SB>2</SB>/Wsh)≤0.75; the relation between a distance D<SB>1</SB>to the center of the second rib 32 from an equatorial plane 18 and a distance D<SB>2</SB>to the center of a shoulder rib 33 from the equatorial plane 18 of 2.4≤(D<SB>2</SB>/D<SB>1</SB>)≤3.00, and the relation between a groove width L<SB>1</SB>and a groove width L<SB>2</SB>of 1.7≤(L<SB>2</SB>/L<SB>1</SB>)≤3.0.
