摘要 #CMT# #/CMT# Coating fibrous substrates (A), i.e. textiles and leather, by using at least one hydrophobin (I). #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are also included for: (1) (A) coated by the new method; and (2) articles of clothing, domestic or technical textiles, and leather articles (for clothing or industrial use) prepared from (I)-coated (A). #CMT#USE : #/CMT# (A) coated with (I) are used for making articles of clothing, domestic or technical textiles, and leather articles (for clothing or industrial use) (all claimed), e.g. bed linen, sanitary textiles, tents, table covers etc. (A) have excellent soil-repellancy properties, also good fastness to washing and abrasion, and a good feel. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# (I) can be applied to substrates without requiring strong alkylating agents such as epichlorohydrin or crosslinking agents. #CMT#BIOTECHNOLOGY : #/CMT# Preferred Proteins: (I) are known proteins, or short peptides, characteristic of filamentous fungi, e.g. Schizophyllum coomune, and contain 8 Cys residues. Particularly they are of formula X n-C-X(1-50)-C-X(0-5)-C-X(1-100)-C-X(1-100)-C-X(1-50)-C-X(0-5)-C-X(1-50)-C-X mor variants prepared chemically or biotechnically, in particular fusion proteins of a natural hydrophobin with a fusion partner, especially the bacterial proteins yaad; yaae; or thioredoxin. Sequences of (I) are referred to in the specification and can be downloaded from the German Patent Office website. (I), and their fusion proteins, are prepared by standard methods of recombinant expression. each X : any natural amino acid; n and m : 0-500, preferably 15-300. #CMT#TEXTILES AND PAPER : #/CMT# Preferred Process: (A) is contacted with an aqueous formulation containing (I), particularly using a pad bath, in which (I) concentration is 1 mg to 10 g/l. Preferably (A) is pretreated before contact with (I), and after this contact it is dried at 20-120, especially 105, [deg]C. (I) is applied as at least a monolayer over at least 10, especially at least 50, % of the surface, at liquor ratio 1:10-1000, preferably 1:70-500, and 0-90[deg]C, preferably room temperature to 85[deg]C. Preferred Materials: (A) is made from natural or, particularly, synthetic materials, preferably polyacrylonitrile, polyamide or, especially, polyester, optionally mixed with natural fibers. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# A PCR fragment containing the sequence of the dewA hydrophobin genes and an N-terminal factor Xa protease cleavage site was amplified (primer sequences given) from the genomic DNA of Aspergillus nidulansand cloned into pQE60YAAD2 to form vector 508. This was used to transform Escherichia coliand transformants grown to express a yaad:Xa:dewA:His6 fusion protein, purified by chromatography on a nickel-Sepharose column.
