The stapler has a vertical front plate (51) with a locking slot (52), into which the front end of a spring-loaded lever (70, 71) fits. A flexible plate (80) below the lever has two lugs which fit into positioning slots (53, 54) in the front plate. The rear end of the lever has a block (75) which fits against a press block (41) on the inside of the stapler cap (40).
