PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To coat individual building panels with an uneven pattern by employing a coating pattern suitable for the uneven pattern with an excellent productivity, which panels are made by cutting a long sized panel with the uneven pattern at desired positions in the longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: The building panels 1 have reference marks 4 having a predetermined positional relations to the uneven patterns 3. Before the building panels 1 are conveyed into a coating device 8, the cutting end surface 5 of the front end side of the building panels 1 conveyed and the reference mark 4 are detected by a detecting means 9, the distance between the cutting end surface 5 and the reference mark 4 is calculated, the position of the cutting end surface 5 in the uneven pattern 3 is specified with consideration to the positional relation between the reference mark 4 and the uneven patterns 3, a coating starting position 6a in the coating pattern 6 of the coating means 7 is set, and the surface of the building panels 1 conveyed into the coating device 8 are coated with the coating pattern 6 from the coating starting position 6a by the coating device 7.
