A terminal device for broadcasting and a method for character-voice call using the same are provided to allow a user to call while the user receives the broadcasting by converting characters inputted by the user into a voice signal and then transmitting the voice signal to another terminal device. A broadcasting receiver(150) is configured to receive a broadcasting signal. A displayer(140) outputs the broadcasting signal supplied from the broadcasting receiver. In case of connection with another terminal device while outputting the broadcasting signal, a controller(190) displays a character chat window for receiving characters on the displayer and converts the characters inputted through the character chat window into a voice signal. The controller outputs a control signal for transmitting the converted voice signal to another terminal.
