CHANNEL ESTIMATION APPARATUS AND METHOD OF OFDM BASED RECEIVER

A channel estimation apparatus of an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) based Receiver and a channel estimation method thereof are provided to improve reception quality by removing effectively noise in a channel estimating process. A signal processor(331) is used for averaging an impulse signal as a time area preamble signal. A noise remover(332) removes noise by padding a zero into an impulse signal stream of the signal processor. A signal selector(334) distinguishes a data signal transmitted to the outside and a noise-removed preamble signal from each other. A controller(333) controls the signal selector. A channel response estimator(335) estimates a channel response by converting the time area impulse response to a frequency area. A channel coefficient storage unit(336) stores a coefficient for the estimated channel response of the channel response estimator. A multiplier(337) outputs channel-compensated reception data by multiplying the compensated channel coefficients by received signals of the channel coefficient storage unit.
