A method for synchronizing data in an image reproducing system is provided to effectively reproduce a DIVX(DIgital Video eXpress) formatted image by skipping a frame having no audio data or no video data and then reproducing the next frame. When video data are absent during reproduction of a DIVX formatted image, a corresponding frame is skipped and the next frame is reproduced(204). When audio data are absent in case of presence of the video data, a corresponding frame is skipped and the next frame is reproduced(206). When the audio data have a zero value(208) in case of presence of the audio data, a corresponding frame is skipped and the next frame is reproduced.
