A car audio device and a method therefor are provided to compare intrinsic information of a car audio with a firmware version which is a system program when a front device is combined to a main device and update firmware of an old version of the main device as firmware which is a system program of the latest version by using the front device. A removable front device(202) stores intrinsic information of a car audio and firmware which is the latest system program, and provides an interface for operating an audio function. A main device(201), combined with the front device(202), stores the intrinsic information of the car audio, performs the audio function according to the function operating interface of the front device(202), and performs an update by using the firmware which is the latest system program stored in the front device(202).
