A digital device for inputting a Chinese character by a pinyin and a stroke and a Chinese character input method therefor are provided to effectively input the Chinese character by simultaneously providing a pinyin input type and a stroke input type and reducing the number of letters corresponding to pinyin and strokes selected by a user. A memory(110) stores Chinese character data including at least one Chinese character used in a Chinese language. A control unit(120) extracts one or more Chinese characters from the Chinese character data according to a pinyin or a stroke inputted by one input type selected between a pinyin input type or a stroke input type, and displays the extracted Chinese characters on a selection window. The control unit(120) judges whether input type conversion is requested from a user. When the input type conversion is requested, the control unit(120) extracts one or more Chinese character data from the extracted Chinese characters according to a pinyin or a stroke inputted by the converted input type, and displays the extracted Chinese characters on the selection window. |
