A method for upgrading a program in an electronic device is provided to extract and transmit upgrade data by using a remote controller that stores the upgrade data, and enable the electronic device to receive and decode the upgrade data and upgrade the program into an upper version, thereby upgrading the program to the upper version by using the remote controller without a USB(Universal Serial Bus) function in the electronic device. A method for upgrading a program in an electronic device comprises the following steps of: extracting upgrade data stored in a remote controller and transmitting the extracted upgrade data(206,208); receiving the upgraded data transmitted through a receiving unit of the electronic device(210); decoding the received upgrade data(212); and upgrading a corresponding program by using the decoded upgrade data(214). The transmission is performed by converting an operation mode of the remote controller into a data transmitting mode. |
