IN-PLANE SWITCHING LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND THE FABRICATION METHOD

An IPS(In-Plane Switching) mode LCD and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve the aperture ratio, by forming a storage capacitor using the outermost common electrode and the outermost pixel electrode, which are disposed adjacently to a data line. A first substrate and a second substrate are disposed to face each other. A gate line(161) and a data line(164) cross each other to define a pixel region above the first substrate. A thin film transistor is formed at a crossing region of the gate line and the data line. Pixel electrodes(165) and common electrodes(167b) are alternately formed at a predetermined distance within the pixel region. Storage capacitors are formed in the outskirts of the pixel region by overlapping storage common electrodes(168a) and storage pixel electrodes(168b). A liquid crystal layer is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate.
