An image display device is provided to generate a 3D image by splitting the light, which is irradiated from an optical source, into two with at least two different polarization axes. A display unit(3) displays an image. An optical source(2) irradiates light on the display unit. A first polarization axis controller(6) splits the light, which is irradiated from the optical source, into a first light having a first polarization axis and a second light having a second polarization axis, when a predetermined reference side of the display unit is arranged in a first direction. A second polarization axis controller(7,8) splits the source light into two with different polarization axes, when the predetermined reference side of the display unit is arranged in a second direction. One of the first and second lights propagates toward user's eyes, when the predetermined reference side of the display unit is arranged in the first direction. One of the lights with different polarization axes propagates toward user's eyes, when the predetermined reference side of the display unit is arranged in the second direction.
