Provided are a composite material tape for a lithium secondary battery which is improved in electrical insulation and heat resistance, and a lithium secondary battery using the composite material tape. The composite material tape(10) comprises an organic material(12) as a base; and an inorganic material(14) which is dispersed in the organic material. Preferably the organic material comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of PI, PET, PP, PPS, PE and PPE; and the inorganic material comprises an oxide or a nitride and has a spherical, whisker or plated shape. Preferably the oxide comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of Al2O3, TiO2, ZrO2, SiO2, MnO2 and MgO; and the nitride comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of Si3N4 and BN.
