A semi-transmission type of LCD is provided to improve the reflective characteristic, by forming a light emitting element to include an aluminum reflection layer, a transparent electrode layer, and a light emitting polymer layer between the reflection layer and the transparent electrode layer. A semi-transmission type of LCD comprises a thin film transistor substrate(133) and a common electrode substrate(134). The thin film transistor substrate has a transmission area(52) and a reflection area(51) for each pixel. A light emitting element(40) is formed in the reflection area of the pixel. A liquid crystal layer(132) is interposed between the thin film transistor substrate and the common electrode substrate. The light emitting element includes a transparent electrode layer(40a), a light emitting polymer layer(40b), and a reflection layer(40c).
