<p>A control method for an air conditioner is provided to precisely detect frosting of an outdoor heat exchanger even though an outdoor pipe is at a sub-zero temperature for carrying out defrosting operation, thereby preventing decrease of heating operation capacity. In a control method for an air conditioner, a mean value of difference values between outdoor suction temperatures and outdoor pipe temperatures for a predetermined time period is obtained and stored to a memory after heating cycle reaches a normal operation state(S110). After the above step, same procedure is carried out for a predetermined time period(S120). A difference between the mean values stored in the first and second steps is compared with a predetermined reference range(S130). If the difference exceeds the predetermined reference range, defrosting of the outdoor unit is determined and a defrosting step is carried out(S150).</p> |
