PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably melt-spinning a polyethylene naphthalate polymer having high melting point. SOLUTION: A polymer composed of a polyethylene naphthalate containing ethylene-2,6-naphthalate unit as at least 90 mol% of the total repeating unit is heat-treated at≥200°C and the treated polymer is spun by melt-spinning. The heat-treatment is carried out by holding the temperature between 140°C and 190°C for≤150 min. Preferably, the holding time between 100°C and 140°C is 30-330 min and the chip size of the polymer is 2.5-4.0 mm in terms of the equivalent sphere diameter (Dp). COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
