PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency in an adjusting work such as gamma correction in an image display apparatus 60, to reduce an adjusting time and to improve adjusting accuracy. SOLUTION: The image display apparatus 60 is equipped with an image signal correcting unit 61, an image display unit 62, an adjustment image signal supply unit 63, a correction information adjusting unit 64 and a recovery information memory 65. The image signal correcting unit 61 receives original image signals and generates corrected image signals from the original image signals based on correction information. The image display unit 62 displays an image screen based on the corrected image signals. The adjustment image signal supply unit 63 supplies the original image signals subjected to correction information adjustment to the image signal correcting unit in an adjustment period of correction information. The correction information adjusting unit 64 adjusts the correction information to control the value of correction image signals output by the image signal correcting unit to be appropriate with respect to the original image signal for correction information control.
