<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device that can flexibly take care of an input and output device having various functions and terminal structures by one unit only. <P>SOLUTION: This safety device comprises an input portion having one or two or more input terminals and/or an output portion having one or two or more output terminals, a test portion having one or two or more test terminals, and a rewritable non-volatile memory is stored in which terminal specification setting information externally set via a tool.
