PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in the size of an apparatus by reducing the space for moving a conveyer belt upon recovery operation of ink jet heads and the space for disposing a maintenance unit. SOLUTION: The conveyer belt 25 disposed below the ink jet heads 12 is loosened so that the clearance is widened between the ink jet heads and the conveyer belt. The maintenance unit 120 having an elastic sheet 122 and caps 124 is inserted in the clearance.
