PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a method for preparing a booklet which enables efficient preparation of the booklet having pages in odd or even numbers or in the number being a mixture of these numbers and enables also random bookbinding. SOLUTION: A primary paper sheet 1 wherein unit sheets are formed in two lateral rows and many longitudinal rows is divided in two along the central longitudinal cutting line to be made secondary paper sheets 8. These sheets are laid on each other vertically, while the fore ends thereof are shifted in the longitudinal direction, and the secondary paper sheets are sent out so that the unit sheets above and below are advanced sequentially. A forward tension is given to each unit sheet positioned at the leading edge in the direction of advance and the sheet is cut off sequentially along a lateral cutting line and sent out.
