PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frame for shadow mask which is formed by welding and has high stiffness, and a color picture tube which uses the frame for shadow mask, improves manufacturing yield, and is hard to be damaged by a shock and the like during transportation. SOLUTION: A frame for shadow mask 16 of a color picture tube comprises a bottom face 22 which welding parts 62 weld and fix a plurality of members to form, and which has a bottom face opening 63 almost in a shape of a rectangular; and a side wall 21 which is set up on the periphery of the bottom face. A plurality of beads 61 extending in the lengthwise direction of the frame are formed on the corner between the bottom face and the side wall, and at least one of the beads 61 is a bead 61n formed at a position over which the welding part 62 crosses inside the bead.
