PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element having a structure wherein a distributed sealing material can be uniformly distributed on a cap bonding area of a substrate. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element comprises the substrate 10 wherein an active area A is formed, many scan line groups 14A and many data line groups 12A which are extended from an anode electrode and a cathode electrode of the active area, auxiliary patterns formed in spaces S11 between two adjacent line groups formed on the substrate and arranged in the cap bonding area S10 of the substrate and a cap bonded in the cap area of the substrate through a sealing material. The auxiliary pattern is a metal layer formed on the substrate, made of one of an indium tin oxide and molybdenum, and comprises a metal layer formed on the substrate and an insulating film formed on the metal layer.
