PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing agent composition for a liquid crystal display element that is superior anti-staining properties of liquid crystals, having relatively low viscosity, and ensuring small viscosity rise during storage at room temperature and proper workability. SOLUTION: The sealing agent composition for a liquid crystal display element contains (A) a partially acrylated (methacrylated) epoxy resin prepared by partially or completely protecting hydroxyl groups, in a partially acrylated (methacrylated) epoxy resin which is a reaction production of an epoxy resin and acrylic acid (methacrylic acid) with a compound, selected from among a silylating agent, an acylating agent and a monoisocyanate compound, (B) a fluorine-containing reactive resin which is curable with light and/or heat and has a fluorine content of 5-60 mass% [where (the fluorine content of the fluorine-containing reactive resin)=(mass which fluorine occupies)/(mass of the fluorine-containing reactive resin)×100], (C) a heat curing agent and (D) a photopolymerization initiator. The sealing agent composition for a liquid crystal display element is superior in the property of not contaminating a liquid crystal, adhesiveness, shape retentivity and curability, ensures long pot life and proper workability, and can be suitably used in production of a liquid crystal display, particularly, by an ODF (One Drop Fill) system.
