Disclosed herein is a use of N-(Pyridinyl)-1H-indol-1-amines of formula (I) wherein the variables are as defined in the specification, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in the manufacture of a medicament for treating bladder irritation and dysfunction in a patient in need thereof. These N-(Pyridinyl)-1H-indol-1-amines of formula (I) provide a unique combination of blocking properties for both the potassium and sodium channels.
